The Kathleen Wynne government has introduced Bill 89- Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act. This Bill if passed, will further erode parental rights, push gender ideology onto child services, trivialize a child's religious upbringing, and create barriers to current and future foster and adoptive parents.

To: Michael Coteau, Ontario Minister of Children and Youth Services
Minister Coteau:
You recently introduced Bill 89, Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act into the Ontario Legislature. This Bill is an attack on parental authority and will ultimately harm children.
By expanding the application of the definition of what is "a child in need", this Bill will displace children from their family home where there really isn't a need.
Also, by pushing gender ideology onto child services, child protection, foster, adoption service providers, and judges will now have to take into consideration a child's "gender identity and gender expression" when determining the best interest of the child. This is problematic for parents who do not subscribe to gender theory.
You recently stated: "I would consider that a form of abuse, when a child identifies one way [LGBT+] and a caregiver is saying no, you need to do this differently," and "If it’s abuse, and if it’s within the definition, a child can be removed from that environment and placed into protection where the abuse stops."
Also, Bill 89 no longer reflects that it is the role of parents to direct their child's religious upbringing. Rather, this Bill states that parents (and Children's Aid Services et al.) must bring up the child in accordance with the child's creed. This essentially diminishes the role of parents.
Furthermore, Bill 89 diminishes the important role parents play in the spiritual and moral development of a child by removing language which respects and takes into account a child's faith environment at home. Bill 89 will relies simply on the child's "creed" when determining the best interests of a child during a hearing.
Finally, foster and adoptive parents will be treated unjustly by Bill 89 if they don't subscribe to gender theory and/or ideology.
We, the parents, grandparents and other residents of Ontario, demand that you withdraw Bill 89 so that these serious objections can be satisfied.
Minister Coteau, do the right thing- Stop Bill 89!
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
